Everywhere they are forced to be controlled by the big capitalist groups or the administration. In such an environment, people’s expression of ‘free thought” is forced to slow down. Therefore, there is a need for alternative media. A decision was taken to start alternative media from Dibrugarh ” A discussion organized by the Yukti Vikas Samiti on the occasion of the ninth anniversary of the online magazine “Mukta Chinta” discussed in depth the issue of media. Different people commented on how the people can get true freedom of speech through the media.The magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Kaushik Das, Joint Editors Tunujyoti Gogoi, Barnali Barua Das, Gautam Goswami, Bhushanjyoti Handique, Sailen Gohain and others discussed the current state of the media in the international context. There are also various comments about the limitations of the media in Assam. The discussion was attended by many thinkers from different places like Nalbari, Guwahati, Jorhat etc. The discussion was attended by thoughtful writer Prasenjit Chowdhury, play writer Munin Sharma, writer Sandhya Devi, writer Navajyoti Bargohai and others. The online magazine also conducted a two-day workshop on mass music titled ‘Songs of Deep Trust Against Distrust’ to mark its nine-year anniversary. Hassan Iqbal Ahmed gave song training to the trainees as a resource person. In his speech, he expressed concern over the decline of mass music. He urged the younger generation to maintain this trend.
