Governor meets Vir Chakra recipient Utpal Barbara
Guwahati, Rongili Barta- On the auspicious occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day, Assam Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria paid a visit to the Wing Commander Utpal Barbara the recipient of the “Vir Chakra”, at his residence in Guwahati today. The Governor, with profound gratitude and respect, extended felicitations to the retired Air Force officer.Expressing admiration for Wing Commander Utpal Barbara’s unwavering dedication and service to Maa Bharti, Governor Kataria reiterated that his commitment to the nation will be eternally remembered and cherished. It may be noted that the Wing Commander, originally hailing from the city of Jorhat, boasts a commendable legacy of service within the Indian Air Force. It may be mentioned that on 26th April, 1965, Flying Officer Barbara undertook a photo-reconnaissance sortie in the Biar Bet area in which the Pakistani Army had mounted an attack against one of the Companies’ positions. In this operation, Flying Officer Utpal Barbara displayed courage, determination and professional skill of a high order in the best traditions of the Indian Air Force. For his exceptional gallantry and dedication to the duty he was awarded the prestigious ‘Vir Chakra.’ The Governor took note of his health conditions and wished him a happy and healthy life. Director, Sainik Welfare, Brig Dinesh Chandra Mazumdar (Retd.) also joined the Governor during his visit.
