Armed Forces Flag Day celebrated at Raj Bhavan

Guwahati, Rongili Barta- Raj Bhavan, Assam under the leadership of Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria observed Armed Forces Flag Day today, marking the annual commemoration of 7th December of the armed forces. It may be noted that the day holds significance nationwide as a tribute to the martyrs and the valorous men in uniform who have steadfastly defended the honor and safety of the country, even sacrificing their lives for the motherland.Governor Shri Kataria, while paying homage to the brave and martyred soldiers, emphasized their selfless service in safeguarding the security and integrity of the Nation is the prized possession of the country. He described Armed Forces Flag Day as a source of pride for the country, serving as a special occasion to express gratitude towards the martyrs of the Indian armed forces. The day also stands as an opportunity to appreciate both retired and active personnel of the armed forces and their families for their unwavering dedication, Shri Kataria added. The Governor underscored the symbolic importance of the day, signifying a commitment to express gratitude and provide financial support for the well-being of the armed forces community. He said that the soldiers are the greatest assets of any nation who act as sentinels to foil any untoward situations in the country. The sacrifices made by soldiers extend beyond their own lives, as their families play a crucial role in supporting their service.  Addressing the assembly that included Veer Naris, Disabled Soldiers, Veterans, and serving Armed Forces personnel, the Governor commended the heroic achievements of the Armed Forces during wars and in combating cross-border terrorism. He acknowledged the heart-rending trauma and tragedy faced by the families of the service personnel who have lost their lives in line of duty. Governor Kataria acknowledged the societal duty to take responsibility for the rehabilitation of martyrs, war widows, the disabled, and their dependents, recognizing the unflinching valor of the Armed Forces personnel. He stressed the importance of the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, stating that it plays a crucial role in collecting donations for instituting welfare measures and rehabilitating the ex-servicemen community. The First Lady of Assam Smt Anita Kataria, Chief Secretary, Paban Kumar Borthakur, Addl. Chief Secretary, Avinash Joshi, Director, Sainik Welfare, Brig Dinesh Chandra Mazumdar (Retd.), Senior government officers and senior armed forces personnel, gallantry award winners, war disabled, war widows, ex-defense service officers and host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
