World Tuberculosis Day commemorated in Dibrugarh District
M HASHIM ALI,DIBRUGARH,Rongili Barta- On Sunday(24-3-24) the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) Dibrugarh commemorated World Tuberculosis Day at the Dr. John Berry White Auditorium, Office of the Additional Chief Medical and Health Officer (FW), Dibrugarh. The Programme was held at 10.30 am with the aim of raising awareness about tuberculosis, eliminating fear of TB, and putting an end to discrimination and stigma related to TB disease. Attendees included NTEP staff, NTEP Partners such as KHPT, DFY, FIND INDIA, CHOs, ANMs, Nursing students from various health institutes, TB champions, and ASHA workers. The Programme commenced with a welcome speech by Dr. R Baruah, District TB Officer. Dr. Trishna Borah, Additional Chief Medical and Health Officer (FW), gave a brief overview of the NTEP, while Dr. Tulika Goswami Mahanta, Professor, Department of Community Medicine at Assam Medical College and Hospital, spoke on the “Challenges of TB in Present Scenario”.Dr Gauri Shankar Borgohain, Senior Orthopaedician and President of IMA, Dibrugarh, spoke about Extra Pulmonary TB and the various challenges that come with it.Sri Rajib Gogoi, Project Implementation Lead, of the “Breaking the Barrier” project of KHPT in Dibrugarh District, provided an overview of Community Engagement in Tea Garden areas of Dibrugarh District. Dr. Trishna Borah, Additional Chief Medical and Health Officer (FW), felicitated Sri Rajib Gogoi for the outstanding efforts of KHPT in Tea Garden areas of Dibrugarh District in the last three years. Sri Bishnu Gohain, PMDT Supervisor, delighted the audience with a mandolin performance and expressed gratitude.
