Raj Bhavan celebrates statehood day of Telangana

Guwahati, Rongili Barta-  Raj Bhavan, Assam celebrated the Statehood Day of Telangana in presence of Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria at Aideo Hall, in the city here. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shri Kataria greeted the people of Telangana on the special day. He said that though the state is celebrating its decennial statehood day, Telangana has been working to strengthen the spirit of ‘One India’. The Governor said that India was united  from time immemorial and is one even today. He said, “Though many of our great men were born in different regions of the country, they are the great sons of the nation and they are working to make the nation great”. He also added that Saint Sri Ramanujacharya is not worshiped only in Telangana, but the entire country worships him. Referring to the great people, the Governor said that they have always imagined of a country which is great, united and strong. With this vision, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, all the Raj Bhavans have been asked to celebrate the Foundation Day of all States and Union Territories of the country under the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” programme. “Following this instruction, today we are celebrating the foundation day of Telangana state”, the Governor said. While congratulating the people of Telangana state on this day, the Governor said that on this day in the year 2014, Telangana came into existence. Therefore, June 2 is a day of pride and glory for every person belonging to Telangana. He further said that during the reorganization of states on linguistic basis in the year 1956, Telangana was merged into Andhra Pradesh. But following the demands of the people of Telangana for a separate state, finally on June 2, 2014, the dream of the people of Telangana for a separate state got materialized.  Shri Kataria also said that Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had played the most important role in uniting the country. Sardar Patel gave us ‘One India’ and now the Prime Minister is emphasizing on making ‘Shrestha Bharat’. The Governor on the occasion also spoke on the art, culture and festivals of Telangana state.  Chief Secretary, Government of Assam  Dr. Ravi Kota, Principal Secretary, Govt. of Assam Kalyan Chakravarthy, Naduri Harish from Telugu Samaj also addressed the function and expressed their views. NEDFI Chairman P.V.S.L.N. Murthy, Secretary to the Governor Swapna Dutta Deka,  ASFFDCL Chairman Simant Shekar, Telugu Association President Srinivasa Reddy, Raj Bhavan officials and many other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
