PM GATI SHAKTI STATE CONFERENCE

Rongili Barta- Hon’ble Minister, Industries Commerce & Public Enterprise, Government of Assam, Shri Bimal Bora, today launched the State Master Plan portal during the Valedictory Session of the State Conference on PM Gati Shakti held at the Assam Administrative Staff College, Khanapara. The two-day State Conference organized under the proactive initiative of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Assam, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, was galvanized by the vital online support from the Department for Promotion of Industries and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, and BISAG – N, the state of the art national-level geo-informatics institute based in Gujarat. PM Gati Shakti was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, during his Independence Day speech of 2021 from the ramparts of Red Fort. The avant-garde programme conceived at the personal intervention of the Prime Minister is widely expected to successfully break the nagging departmental silos and institutionalize holistic planning for stakeholders across major infrastructure projects. Since then, the State of Assam under the leadership of its dynamic Chief Minister has taken commendable strides for adopting PM Gati Shakti in its way of working and implementing projects. This two-day State Conference attended by senior officers and technical personnel from the various stakeholder Departments of the Government of Assam is a culmination of those efforts. The inaugural session of the conference on 20 th September 2022 was addressed online by the Special Secretary (Logistics), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, Shri Amrit Lal Meena, IAS; and by one of the project directors of BISAG N. The Secretary, Industries Commerce & Public Enterprise, Government of Assam, Dr. Lakshmanan S., IAS gave an inspirational welcome address to set the ball rolling. The working sessions over the two days comprised various stakeholder Departments of the State Government presenting how they have uploaded their respective Departmental data in the PM Gati Shakti portal, and what projects they intend to take up in the near future using the. Problems faced by these Departments were also discussed and sorted out by the technical personnel from BISAG N joining online from Ahmedabad. There was also a pre-lunch technical session on 21 st September 2022, wherein Shri Vijay Singh, Project Director, BISAG N, explained how to use the PM Gati Shakti portal for proper project planning, issues and problems faced by State Government Departments in using that portal, and the role of States in the PM Gati Shakti programme.
