Governor inaugurates Think India North East Summit 2025

North East has immense potential in India transformation’s into super power: Governor

Guwahati, Rongili Barta Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya inaugurated the ‘Think India North East Summit 2025’  at IIT Guwahati.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Acharya highlighted the importance of Northeast India in shaping the nation’s future. He thanked Think India for organizing the conference and praised its continued focus on Northeast India, emphasizing the region’s vital role in India’s growth.

Pointing out to North East’s unique heritage, biodiversity, and youth energy as key drivers for the region’s emergence as a hub of development and innovation in the country’s Amrit Kaal, Shri Acharya called upon the youth of the region to take an active role in expediting the growth trajectory of the region. The Governor also exuded hope that the discussions at this summit will focus on innovation in education, sustainability in development, and new momentum in economic empowerment, which according to him will take the North East to a greater height.

Shri Acharya further said that the government’s commitment to infrastructure development, digital connectivity, and economic inclusivity are acting as a catalyst to fulfill the aspirations and enhancing the region’s potential. He also lauded Northeast’s rich historical and cultural legacy, which are adequately shaped by the valiance and heroics of Lachit Borphukan, Veer  Chilarai etc.

He also acknowledged the strategic importance of Northeast India as a gateway to Southeast Asia, noting that although geographical challenges had once hindered its integration with the rest of India, it continues to thrive with a vibrant academic, historical cultural and trade legacy. “Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Northeast has witnessed remarkable progress,” Shri Acharya added, citing significant developments that the region has been witnessing in infrastructure, connectivity, and economic growth.

The Governor concluded his speech by expressing his optimism in youth’s potential of the region which according to him if wisely harnessed will act as a force-multiplier in driving  progress, in Industry 4.0. particularly in areas such as Artificial Intelligence and its manifestations in healthcare services, sustainable agriculture, climate-resilient crop development, and skill development. He also expressed confidence that the youth’s innovative pursuits will play a pivotal role in realizing the Northeast’s full potential and contribute to India’s journey towards becoming a global superpower.

The program was attended by Director IIT Guwahati, Prof. Devendra Jalihal, National Organizing Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad Ashish Chauhan, Professor of IIT-G Prof. Uday Shankar Dixit along with a host of other dignitaries were present in the inaugural function.
