Governor inaugurates the Administrative Building of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, AAU
Students and agricultural scientists should take the lead in bridging gap between agriculture innovation and their field application: Governor
Guwahati,Rongili Barta- Assam Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria inaugurated the newly built auditorium of Sarat Chandra Sinha College of Agriculture and administrative building of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of Assam Agricultural College at Chapor in Dhubri district at a programme held at Chapar.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shri Kataria said, “Agriculture holds paramount importance in our nation, and its development influences national prosperity and GDP growth. However, there is a noticeable reluctance among individuals to pursue farming as their way of livelihood. Therefore, it is incumbent upon students and agricultural scientists to educate and inspire farmers to adopt scientific methods of farming and its high yielding produce.” Shri Kataria also said that Agricultural University should take steps to adopt farmlands to demonstrate how modern techniques can facilitate round the year cultivation. By showcasing high yielding agricultural outputs and the innovative practices to grow them, they can highlight the potential of sustainable farming.
The Governor also highlighted that natural farming, with its significant global possibilities, presents another potential area, the students and agricultural scientists should leverage to replicate for large scale use. He further said that students should take the lead in bringing their knowledge to the fields and encourage the farmers to adopt innovative ways of farming. Their initiative and involvement can bridge the gap between academic advancements and practical applications, driving growth in the agricultural sector and, consequently, national development.
First Lady of Assam Smt Anita Kataria, Vice chancellor of AAU Dr.Bidyut Chandra Deka, District Commissioner of Dhubri Diwakar Nath along with a host of dignitaries were present in the programme.
