Governor attends Gaj Utsav
Guwahati,Rongili Barta- Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria attended the Gaj Utsav 2023 at Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR) in Golaghat to mark 30 years of ‘Project Elephant’ under Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in the august presence of President Droupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Dr.Himanta Biswa Sarma. Speaking on the occasion the Governor said, “I thank the President for her gesture in coming to Assam’s Kaziranga National Park for the inauguration of Gaj Utsav. Her presence will really help the state in its motivation to take the elephant project to a greater height of its success. Assam has been doing a lot of activities towards protection and conservation of elephants. This Gaj Utsav will help the state in augmenting its efforts towards elephant protection.” The Governor also said that Assam is already blessed with reserve forests, wild life sanctuaries and national parks scattered across the state. These forests provide ideal habitats for the elephant population. Therefore, this Gaj Utsav will give the state a new momentum to take the elephant project to its logical conclusion. The Governor thanked the President, Union Minister of Environment Forests and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav and his team for selecting Assam for Gaj Utsav. The First Lady of Assam Anita Kataria, Union Minister of State for Environment Forest and Climate Change Ashwani Kumar Choubey, Minister of Environment and Forest Chandra Mohan Patowari, Minister Finance Ajanta Neog, Minister Agriculture Atul Bora along with other dignitaries were present in the Gaj Utsav.
