CELEBRATION OF PCS DAY, 2021 BY NORTH EASTERN CHAPTER AND SILIGURI CHAPTER OF EIRC OF ICSI ON 19TH JUNE 2021 ON THE THEME – ‘JOURNEY SO FAR : INSOLVENCY AND BANKRUPTCY CODE 2016’
The North Eastern Chapter and Siliguri Chapter of EIRC of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India celebrated the PCS Day, 2021 by conducting a Webinar jointly on the Theme – ‘Journey so far : Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016’ on 19th June 2021 from 5 PM to 7 PM.
Dr. Shankar Ghosh, Hon’ble MLA, Siliguri Constituency, West Bengal graced the Webinar as Chief Guest. He was felicitated with Saheed Ki Beti Certificate on this online platform.
CS Manish Gupta, Central Council Member & Chairman, PCS Committee and CS Deepak Kumar Khaitan, Central Council Member of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India graced the virtual programme as Guest of Honour. CS Sudhir Banthiya, Chairman and CS Biman Debnath, Vice-Chairman of EIRC of ICSI graced the programme by their special presence.
CS Rahul Parasrampuria graced the Webinar as an esteemed Speaker of the topic and enlightened the participants.
Apart from the technical session, a felicitation programme was also organized during the celebrations in which Company Secretaries who have been practicing for 15 years were felicitated with Certificate of Appreciation for their outstanding accomplishment and exemplary contribution towards building profession of Company Secretaries and Service to the stakeholders since long. The Practicing Company Secretaries who were felicitated shared their experiences with the participants and guided the young members.
CS Kushal Bharat Bagadia, Chairman, NE Chapter of EIRC of ICSI and CS Neerupama Kabra, Chairperson, Siliguri Chapter of EIRC of ICSI delivered the Welcome address. The Inaugural session of the programme was moderated by CS Nitin Gupta, Vice-Chairman, Siliguri Chapter of EIRC of ICSI and the technical session of the programme was moderated by CS Anshuman Jain, Secretary, NE Chapter of EIRC of ICSI.
Every year on 15th June, The Institute of Company Secretaries of India celebrates its first milestone in the development of the Profession, when the Company Secretaries in Practice, were accorded recognition for certifying the Annual Returns under the erstwhile Companies Act, 1956. This was the beginning of new phase for the profession, since then Company Secretary in Practice have reached glorious heights of success. All the Regional Offices and Chapters of ICSI celebrated PCS Day during the Week starting 12th June, 2021 to 19th June, 2021 on the theme of PCS Day through virtual mode.
Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016 was implemented through an act of Parliament. It got Presidential assent in May 2016. The Webinar discussed in details the scope, duties, responsibilities, role, achievements and recognition of Company Secretaries in practice so far while practicing in Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016.
Various CS Members from both the Chapter attended the programme.
