ASDMA organises training of trainers on Women and Child Care during Emergencies for first responders

Guwahati, Rongili Barta-  A two days residential training of trainers on Child and Women Care in Relief Camps & Temporary Shelters during Emergencies was organised on February 14 and 15. 2023 at Assam Administrative Staff College (AASC), Khanapara, Guwahati to equip the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) functionaries under Directorate of Women and Child Development (DWCD), Assam at all levels with relevant training and enable them to deliver proven nutrition-specific interventions during a disaster, to reduce mortality rate and morbidity associated with malnutrition. The training was conducted by Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) in collaboration with WCD and UNICEF, Assam. The first level of the training was conducted with the nominated 65 nos, of nodal officers from all the selected ICDS projects in all districts of the State who in turn, will train the Anganwadi Workers (AWS) in their respective districts before the flood season starts. The AWs are the first responders to the women and child victims during any emergency situation. Therefore, the training has been conducted to stimulate the grass-root level workers and motivate them to work keeping in view of these facts. The inaugural programme of the training was chaired by Shri Chinmoy Nath, ACS, Jt. Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department and Dy. Chief Executive Officer, ASDMA and attended by Smti. Sangita Borthakur, ACS. Jt. Director, DWCD, Anand Prakash Kanoo from UNICEF, officers from DWCD, UNICEF and ASDMA.
