ART Centres inaugurated at Kokrajhar Medical College & AIMS- Guwahati 

Rongili Barta- In order to provide care, support and treatment to the people living with HIV (PLHIV), Anti Retroviral Therapy (ART) Centres was inaugurated at Kokrajhar Medical College & Hospital and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Guwahati on January 30 and February 1, 2025 respectively. 

The ART Centre at Kokrajhar Medical College was inaugurated by the District Commissioner,  Kokrajhar, Smt. Masanda M Pertin, IAS in presence of in presence of Principal cum Chief Superintendent Dr Atul Boro, Nodal Officer of ART Centre Dr Bhaskar Brahma and HoDs of different departments, staff nurses and students of Kokrajhar Medical College Hospital. Speaking on the occasion, District Commissioner said,  “ The ART Centre of Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital would be a great help for the people living with HIV in Kokrajhar and the adjoining districts.” She also stressed on the maintenance of confidently of the HIV patients who come for treatments. 

ART Centre at IIT-Guwahati was inaugurated by Dr Ashok Puranik, Executive Director,  All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Guwahati on February 1, 2025 in the presence of Project Director, Assam State AIDS Control Society (ASACS) Dr Indranoshee Das, ACS, officials from ASACS and AIMS, Guwahati. Speaking on the occasion Dr Ashok Puranik said,  “We are committed to provide all kind of support to the people living with HIV including investigations and treatment.” Project Director, Assam State AIDS Control Society (ASACS) Dr Indranoshee Das, ACS, in her key note address said, “ With the inauguration of ART Centre at AIMS, Guwahati, we are going to achieve another milestone in the field of ART services in Assam especially people living with HIV in central Assam.” She further expressed hope that this ART Centre will fulfil the expectations of the people living with HIV in the district.   

Anti Retroviral Therapy (ART)  centres have been playing a crucial role in providing treatment to people living with HIV. With the inauguration of ART Centres at Kokrajhar Medical College Hospital and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Guwahati, Assam has now 11 nos of ART Centres functioning in different medical colleges and district hospitals.
