Meeting on Governor’s Development Agenda for Assam and implementation of PM Flagship, Centrally Sponsored and Central Sector schemes held at Lok Bhavan
Guwahati,Rongili Barta: As per the direction of Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya a meeting to discuss the Governor’s 19-Point Development Agenda for Assam and the implementation of Prime Minister’s flagship, Centrally Sponsored and Central Sector Schemes was held at Lok Bhavan.
The meeting was chaired by Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor, Shri S.S. Meenakshi Sundaram. Senior representatives from various departments of the Government of Assam participated in the meeting. About 39 Departments and Agencies attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Commissioner briefed the participating Departments and Agencies on the Governor’s 19-Point Development Agenda and stressed the need for a structured, measurable and outcome-oriented approach to its implementation. He emphasised that each department should identify relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) emerging from the State schemes, Central govt. schemes including Prime Minister’s flagship schemes being implemented by it and map these indicators with the respective points of the Governor’s Development Agenda.
He said that such an approach would enable clear measurement of progress under each agenda point and ensure that the implementation of various schemes translates into tangible and meaningful outcomes for the people.
The Commissioner and Secretary also apprised the participants of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to be followed by departments and agencies for preparing reports against the respective points of the Development Agenda.
The meeting underscored the importance of effective inter-departmental coordination, continuous monitoring and timely reporting for the successful implementation of the 19-Point Development Agenda and various flagship programmes. Emphasis was laid on measurable progress and time-bound reporting to strengthen the monitoring mechanism and ensure that the benefits of development schemes reach the people in a timely and effective manner.
