ASDMA requests citizens of Guwahati city to be alert as per the IMD forecasts
Guwahati, Rongili Barta: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted today of moderate to heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm at the isolated places in Guwahati city and other districts across the state on today and the coming 3-4 days due to current meteorological conditions and Monsoon scenario in the state.
In continuation of the earlier weather forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on July 20, 2026, the present weather pattern suggests that due to current meteorological conditions and monsoon scenario in the state, the city may also face the moderate to heavy rainfall (7-11 cm/24 hours) across the city which may aggravate water logging, flooding, flash floods, slow vehicular movement, and increase the risk of localized landslides in vulnerable pockets. The Kamrup Metro district authority and ASDMA are closely monitoring the situation and emergency response systems are being kept on alert. DDMA, Kamrup Metro is also requested to be prepared with all necessary response mechanism.
In view of the situation, ASDMA requests all the people of Guwahati city to take all necessary precautions and remain vigilant. The daily commuters and long-distance travelers are requested to plan their routines accordingly, avoiding unnecessary movement during periods of intense rainfall. Residents in low-lying and hillside areas should stay alert for any signs of flooding or landslides.
