Governor visits Dima Hasao

Interacts with the villagers of Samparidisa and interacts with them on key issues

Pays rich tributes to freedom fighter, martyr Sambhudhan Phonglo

Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya as a part of his maiden visit to Hima Hasao district, today went to Samparidisa village and spent time with the local villagers.

During his visit, the Governor interacted with the villagers and learnt from them about different government schemes that are on implementation in the village for the welfare of the villagers. He took note of the implementation of various Central and State Government welfare schemes and tried to understand their impact on the lives of the villagers towards giving value of life of the villagers. He also held discussion with the members of self-help groups and other villagers on  issues concerning rural livelihoods.

Interacting with the villagers, the Governor emphasized that the progress and development of Samparidisa village in particular and Dima Haso in general are the results of the diligence of the governments at the Centre, State and the Council. He also attributed the large-scale development of the  district to the dutifulness and sacrifices of the social leaders of the yesteryears and forefathers. He requested the villagers to uphold the legacy by working together to ensure that no one is left behind from the development journey. He also stressed the importance of preserving the district’s rich cultural heritage, language, and traditions.

Shri Acharya also observed that sustained efforts in key areas such as drinking water availability, educational infrastructure, and healthcare services are keys for enabling the people to lead a life of dignity. He, therefore, asked the villagers to take the fruits of the welfare schemes Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Orunodoi, PM-Kisan etc.

The Governor also hailed the villagers for maintaining absolute cleanliness as he said that their habits of keeping their village clean and their commitment to environmental conservation will definitely be a source of inspiration to others across the district and elsewhere. The Governor called upon them to continue their efforts in keeping their surroundings green and sustainable. He also took stock of the progress of the Samparidisa Piped Water Supply Scheme under the Haflong division, executed under JJM, and stressed the importance of maintenance legacy for the sustenance of the project.

The Governor who also visited Samparidisa LP School, interacted with the students and teachers. He asked the Headmaster of the school to ensure the highest quality standards in meal preparation for the Mid Day Meal of the children.

Governor Shri Acharya as a part of his visit also paid a visit to a beneficiary resident of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana  and interacted with the family to understand their experience and the positive changes the shelter has brought about in the lives of the beneficiaries.

 

Upon his arrival in Haflong town, the Governor paid rich tribute to the revered freedom fighter, Martyr Sambhudhan Phonglo, by offering his respects at his statue on the occasion of his 143rd death anniversary. Nandita Garlosa and Debolal Garlosa also accompanied the Governor to his village visit.

 

Later on the day, the Governor held a review meeting with DC, SP and other security officials to take stock of the pace of development including the implementation of several welfare initiatives of the government.
