Governor takes stock of the development works of Kamrup Metropolitan District

Guwahati, Rongili Barta- Assam Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria chaired a meeting with the heads of the departments and took stock of the development works along with prevailing law and order of Kamrup Metropolitan District at the conference hall of  District Commissioner’s office today. The District Commissioner, Kamrup Metro Sumit Sattawan apprised the Governor of various development projects being undertaken in the district. He presented a detailed powerpoint presentation and apprised the Governor of the functioning of the departments and progress report of the various central and state welfare schemes. The Governor also took stock of the progress of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi,  Prime Minister’s Fasal Bima Yojana. The Governor discussed at length the various development activities and projects, grant schemes of the Central and State governments. He reviewed the progress and implementation of the work of Education, Health, Water Resources, Irrigation, Fisheries, PWD and activities of the Social welfare department. With regard to elementary education, the Governor asked the District Elementary Officer to gear up to increase enrolment in government schools. He also took stock of the anganwadi centres operating in the district and asked DC to take special care for the centres as they hold the key for physical and mental health of the children. Shri Kataria said, “This is my second review meeting with the district. I have taken keen interests to stimulate development of the state and therefore intended to meet all the officers to get first hand information.” He also asked the officers to work for the benefits of the needy and less privileged. He also stressed on generating adequate awareness of the various schemes of the government and make them available for the public. Shri Kataria also had a detailed discussion with the Commissioner of Police, Diganta Barah on policing in the district. The Commissioner also briefed the Governor on the prevailing law and order in the district.
