Governor Shri Acharya pays tribute to A. Balakrishnan at Shradhanjali Sabha
Remembers his life-long contribution to the service of motherland
Guwahati, Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the Shradhanjali Sabha organised in memory of A. Balakrishnan, All-India President of Vivekananda Kendra and Vivekananda Rock Memorial, at the Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture in Guwahati.
The Governor paid floral tributes to the portrait of Balakrishnan and remembered him as a dedicated Karmayogi, a great servant of the nation and a devoted disciple of Swami Vivekananda. He said that his passing away was an immense loss to Vivekananda Kendra, society and the nation.
Recalling his more than five decades of selfless service, Shri Acharya said that Late Balakrishnan dedicated his life to nation-building, youth awakening, education and character-building. After serving in the Indian Air Force, he joined Vivekananda Kendra in 1973 as one of its early Jeevanvrati workers, inspired by the call of Shri Eknath Ji Ranade.
The Governor particularly recalled Late Balakrishnan’s deep association with the North-East and his significant contribution to expanding education, social service and the work of Vivekananda Kendra in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. He noted that the schools established under this vision continue to nurture students with values, national consciousness and a spirit of service.
Shri Acharya said that Late Balakrishnan’s simplicity, humility and commitment made him a true embodiment of Karma Yoga. He said that while great personalities may leave the world physically, their thoughts, values and deeds continue to inspire generations. He said that carrying forward Balakrishnan’s vision and strengthening the tradition of service he nurtured would be the true tribute to his life-long contribution.
All-India Treasurer of Vivekananda Kendra Praveen Dabholkar, Sarkaryawah of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Dattatreya Hosabale, Retired Lt. General Rana Pratap Kalita, social worker Ajay Dutta, office-bearers and karyakartas of Vivekananda Kendra, along with other dignitaries, attended the Shradhanjali Sabha.
