Assam Governor Celebrates Pre-Holi with Raj Bhavan fraternity
Guwahati, Rongili Barta: Assam Governor, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, along with the First Lady Smt. Kumud Devi, celebrated the pre-Holi festivities with the officers and staff of Raj Bhavan at a programme held at the premises of Raj Bhavan here.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Acharya highlighted the importance of the festival in strengthening social bonds and promoting harmony. Shri Acharya said, “India, with its rich diversity, is a unique example of unity in diversity. Every state in the country celebrates Holi in its own traditional way, yet the feelings of enthusiasm, love, and collective joy remain the same everywhere”. He pointed out that Holi is not just only a festival of colours, it is a celebration of the confluence of diverse cultures, where different communities partake in the festivities with great joy, following their unique traditions.
The Governor also acknowledged the spiritual roots of Holi in Assam, particularly its connection to the teachings of saints and spiritual gurus. “In Assam, Holi is deeply intertwined with the Neo-Vaishnavite tradition propagated by Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev,” said Shri Acharya. He highlighted how the festival holds profound spiritual significance in Assam, especially in places like Majuli and Barpeta Satra, where it is celebrated with devotion, faith, and joy.
The event was also marked by a cultural performance organized by the North East Zone Cultural Centre, which added a special touch to the celebrations.
