Governor attends FICCI Ladies Organisation Women Achievers’ Award 2026
Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, attended the Women Achievers’ Award 2026 ceremony organised by the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FICCI FLO), Northeast Chapter, at a city hotel here. The event honoured five outstanding women achievers from different fields across Northeast.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that following the celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, the award ceremony was a meaningful continuation of recognising the strength and contributions of women in society. He congratulated the awardees and lauded their dedication, perseverance and achievements, which have made them role models in their respective fields.
Quoting the Sanskrit verse, “Yatra Naryastu Pujyante Ramante Tatra Devataah”—meaning “Where women are respected, there the God resides,” the Governor said that Assam and other states of the Northeast have a rich tradition of honouring women’s courage and contributions. He recalled legendary figures such as Sati Joymoti and Kanaklata Barua as symbols of bravery and sacrifice.

Emphasising the importance of women’s participation in nation-building, the Governor said that empowering women is essential for national progress. He noted that the Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Government of Assam under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma have undertaken several initiatives to strengthen women’s empowerment through various welfare and development schemes.

It may be mentioned that the awards were conferred on Dhananda Pathak of Assam, an exponent of Kamrupi Lok Geet, Kmoin Wahlang of Meghalaya, a marathon runner, Ms Zomawii Khiangte of Mizoram, a social entrepreneur, Ratna Dey of Tripura, an entrepreneur and exporter, and K. Chokhone of Manipur, Founder and CEO of Dianthe Private Limited.
First Lady of Assam smt Kumud Devi, President of the organisation Rashmi Manchanda, Senior Vice President Pronita Barua, office bearers of FICCI FLO and several other distinguished guests were present on the occasion.
