Raj Bhavan celebrates Telangana statehood day

Guwahati,Rongili Barta:In a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity and national integration, Raj Bhavan Assam observed Telangana Statehood Day at KBR Hall, Cotton University here today. The event was organized as part of the Government of India’s flagship initiative Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, aimed at fostering a strong bond between different states of the country.

Governor of  Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering with a message of unity, pride, and shared heritage. He said, “Telangana’s journey since June 2, 2014 has been one of courage, aspiration, and remarkable growth. This day is not just a reminder of a state’s formation, but a celebration of its vibrant culture, heritage, and the indomitable spirit of its people.”

Shri Acharya highlighted Telangana’s rich cultural tapestry from the architectural marvels like Ramappa Temple, Charminar, and Golconda Fort, to the folk arts like Perini Shiva Tandavam, Kolatam, and Oggu Katha. He also said  how festivals like Bathukamma and Bonalu symbolize the empowerment of women and reflect the deep-rooted community spirit of the state.

The Governor spoke on the legendary personalities from Telangana who have shaped India’s national identity, including former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, Bharat Ratna Dr. Zakir Hussain, and sports icons like P.V. Sindhu. Their contributions continue to inspire generations across the country, he said.

Reflecting on the relationship between Assam and Telangana, the Governor noted that the two culturally rich states, despite their geographical distance, are closely connected through the values of harmony, cooperation, and mutual respect. “Just as the Brahmaputra and the Godavari nourish the land and its people, Assam and Telangana stand as powerful symbols of our nation’s unity in diversity,” he added.

He drew meaningful parallels between the teachings of Saint Ramanujacharya and Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev, emphasizing that their messages of compassion, equality, and service remain ever-relevant in today’s society.

As India progresses into the Amrit Kaal, Shri Acharya underscored the importance of inter-state cooperation and cultural exchange in building a stronger and a more unified nation.

A vibrant cultural program  was also showcased on Telangana’s traditional music and dance forms.

Addl. Chief Secretary B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor S.S.Meenakshi Sundaram, OSD Raj Bhavan Prof. Bechan Lal, IGP Logistics, Dr. V.Sivaprasad Ganjala, President, VC Cotton University Prof. Ramesh Ch. Deka, President of Telugu Association Srinivasa Reddy along with a host of other dignitaries were present in the celebration.
