Raj Bhavan Assam takes part in the celebration of World Children’s Day Week 

Guwahati, Rongili Barta- On the occasion of World Children’s day week, Raj Bhavan, Assam hosted an interaction programme, where Governor Gulab Chand Kataria interacted with the young climate activists at his office chamber. Organised by UNICEF, later  an interaction program  was held where the Principal Secretary and CEO, ASDMA, Gyanandra Dev Tripathi and Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor, SS Meenakshi Sundaram talked to the youth representatives. It may be mentioned that seven young climate activists from different parts of the state took part in the interaction program who shared their thoughts and experiences that they faced during floods and other natural calamities.  Principal Secretary Tripathi gave a detailed view on the effects of natural disasters and their impact on humanity. He therefore said that the Government both at the Centre and State have made several policies and took many steps to deal with the problems of climate change and its manifestation. The Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor speaking at the interaction programme said that climate change has a significant effect on everybody particularly on children and women. He also said that supporting climate resilient programmes help in addressing affects of natural disasters. He also said that the measures taken by the Government will prove to be very helpful in securing the future of the children and also help in addressing the concerns in the right direction. The Chief of UNICEF, Assam Dr Madhulika Jonathan along with officials of UNICEF and Raj Bhavan were present at the event.
