Governor visits South Salmara Mankachar district
Guwahati,Rongili Barta- Governor Gulab Chand Kataria visited South Salmara Mankachar district today and during his day-long visit, he reached at the Sahapara Border Outpost and talked to the jawans of the 45th Battalion of the Border Security Force. During his interaction, the Governor inquired about their challenges serving at the BoP. Governor Shri Kataria hailed the commitment and dedication of the jawans. He emphasized that it is through their hard work and dedication the people can enjoy peace, as they play a pivotal role in safeguarding the nation’s borders. He also acknowledged the paramount role played by the BSF in securing the borders and commended their unparalleled discipline. The Governor highlighted the valuable contribution of women in the BSF and their significant role in the border security. Governor Shri Kataria further mentioned the commitment of the Prime Minister to border security, including his tradition of celebrating Diwali with the jawans stationed at the borders. He praised the unmatched sacrifices made by the jawans, who willingly sacrifice their family life for the security of the nation. The Governor inspected the Indo-Bangla border at Sahapara BoP and met with the villagers residing along the border areas. In his address to the community, the Governor emphasized the importance of education as a priority sector for societal development. He encouraged people to engage in education, as it holds the potential to bring about positive changes. During this visit, MLA Mankachar Md Aminul Islam accompanied the Governor and raised issues pertaining to the district. The Governor also underscored the significance of agricultural prosperity and encouraged the villagers to adopt new and efficient farming methods to explore more avenues for their well-being. He informed the community about government schemes, including the PM KISAN initiative, and encouraged them to avail of the benefits. Finally, the Governor’s visit included a stop at the District Commissioner’s office in Hatsingimari, where he chaired a meeting with the District Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, and department heads in the district to discuss various matters of importance. During the meeting the Governor the district administration to upscale their efforts in rising literacy rate of the district. He also asked the administration to address the issues like drop out rate and student teacher ratio in the district. Therefore, he, asked the officials to put in more efforts to bring about qualitative changes in the education sector of the district. He also took stock of the status of MGNREGA. With regard to Amrit Sarovar, he asked the administration to look into beautification and enhance the utility of the sarovars for the general public. He also enquired about the status of Jal Jeevan Mission. He said that as the mission is going to complete on March next week, the district should achieve the target before the deadline. He also expressed his satisfaction over the progress made by the district in terms of SBM-G. He also reviewed the works of PWD and took stock of the activities the department is carrying out in the district.
