Governor meets the officials of Industries and Commerce department

Guwahati, Rongili Barta-Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria had an interaction and took stock of the activities of Industries and Commerce department in presence of Industries and Commerce Minister Bimal Borah in the conference hall of Raj Bhavan. Secretary, Industry, Commerce and Public Enterprises Dr.Lakshmanan S gave a detailed presentation of the activities of the department. He also gave the Governor an overview of the status of implementation of different schemes in the state. The Governor said that he has already visited almost all the districts of the state and he is happy of the fact that every district is unique in its own way which can be developed as an industry. For example, the Governor said that the bamboo, cane, terracotta crafts have got enormous market potentials which can be developed as flourishing industries. He said that the terracotta craft of Asharikandi and mask making of Majuli district are very unique in their own ways. He said that Under One district-one product programme a market can be developed where all the districts of the state can showcase their products in open market. Industries and Commerce Minister Bimal Borah said that they shall open the market either in Srimanta Sankardeva Kalkshetra or in Maniram Dewan Trade Centre. The Governor also took stock of the entrepreneurial activities of the state, along with the facilities of loan given by the Bank. The meeting was attended by Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor SS Meenakshi Sundaram, Commissioner Industry, Commerce and Public Enterprises Oinam Sarankumar Singh, MD ASIDC Manvendra Pratap Singh, MD ATCL Rakesh Agarwala, Secretary to the Governor Swapna Dutta Deka, Secretary, Industry, Commerce and Public Enterprises Arpan Saikia and other senior officers.
