Vice-Chairman Ramen Deka inaugurated Tourism conclave at Sivasagar

Sivasagar,Rongili Barta- Hon’ble Vice-Chairman Ramen Deka of State Innovation & Transformation Aayog (SITA), inaugurated a day-long Tourism Conclave “ Rediscovering Sivasagar” today at Yuvadol, Sivasagar which was organized by District Administration, Sivasagar in collaboration with State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA), Assam. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Charaideo Paul Baruah, ADC Bitupan Neog, officials of SITA, Tourism deptt , Resourse persons, stakeholders related to tourism, tour operators from different states and local students. In his inaugural speech , Hon’ble Vice-Chairman Ramen Deka elaborated on the various types of Tourism such as religious tourism , stress-free tourism and entertainment tourism. He said that unlike earlier tourists who goes for pilgrimage, the present tourists go places for relaxation and entertainment. To promote tourism he emphasized on the importance of hygiene and cleanliness and proper placement of toilets in and around tourist sites. He stressed that in order to promote tourism we need to inculcate a sense of belongingness or ownership of our tourist spots which he says is very important to develop within ourselves. Taking hints of Colombo, Sri Lanka, he said tea tourism could be promoted in that line and also to encourage setting up of economy hotels with well-equipped amenities. Sri Deka is of the opinion that with a sustainable development of a state, alongside we should also promote eco-tourism. And that the Government is paving all way to develop Sivasagar a tourist heritage and that SITA is always ready to help them in that venture. Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav delivered a speech and highlighted the problems and future scopes of Sivasagar district. Others who spoke on the occasion also stressed on the various aspects for development of tourism and elaborated on SWOT (Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis on the potential of tourism in the district. The dignitaries who delivered speeches were Chandan Nath, MD, CN Travels, Ashish Phookan, MD, JTI Groups, Dr. Sapna Medhi, Ms. Neera Sharma and Dhiraj Bikash Gogoi. ADC Bitupan Neog coordinated the programme.
