Minister Pijush Hazarika’s sudden visit to rehabilitation centre
Guwahati, Rongili Barta- State minister for social justice and empowerment Pijush Hazarika paid a sudden visit to a private rehabilitation centre titled Peace Wellness Foundation in the city on Thursday. During his visit, Hazarika witnessed the pathetic condition of the centre, where necessary facilities for the residents were not provided. He warned the concerned authorities of immediate actions. With no healthcare facilities at the centre, Hazarika directed the joint director of district health services to conduct a health camp for the residents at the earliest. Following the allegation of anti-social activities going on at the centre, the minister asked the police to strictly monitor for the next few days. Speaking to reporters in Dispur, Hazarika commented that if a number of people are kept in an unhealthy environment, the physical and mental condition of drug-addicts would only worsen. He added that the government would soon frame policies to run the rehabilitation centres. Meanwhile, he is going to discuss various issues with the authorities of all rehabilitation centers in the city on Saturday.
