Leaders of NDA along with Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma meet Assam Governor

Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) along with Chief Minister-designate Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, called on Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, at Lok Bhavan today and discussed matters relating to the formation of the new Government in the state.

During the meeting, Dr. Sarma submitted to the Governor the list of elected Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) supporting the NDA and formally staked claim to form the next Government in Assam.

The NDA has secured the support of 102 MLAs in the 126-member Assam Legislative Assembly, including 82 MLAs from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 10 from the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), and 10 from the Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF).

Earlier in the day, the BJP Legislature Wing, Assam met and unanimously elected Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma as its leader. Union Minister Health and Family Welfare cum observer BJP National HQ Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda and Haryana Chief Minister cum Observer BJP National HQ Shri Nayab Singh Saini attended the meeting along with others.

 

The Governor has invited Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to form the new Government in Assam.

Governor Assam Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma as Chief Minister and to the members of the Council of Ministers.
