Governor visits Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University

Expresses satisfaction paying a visit to Namphakey Buddhist Monastery

Guwahati,Rongili Barta-   With an aim to boost the sports environment in the State, Assam Governor  and Chancellor of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University, Gulab Chand Kataria today chaired a meeting at the conference hall of Mohanbari Airport in Dibrugarh with DC Biswajit Pegu, Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof.J.P.Verma, and key officials from the Sports and Youth Welfare Department of the State. The Governor stressed on the needs and potential of Sports University to enhance sports education in the State. He directed the PWD officials to demarcate the boundary of the varsity and create the master plan in consultation with the university at the earliest. He also directed the officials to establish pillars all around demarcated area and install iron fence. The Governor also visited the site where the Sports University is being built. Local MLA Chabua, Ponakan Baruah also joined the Governor. Later, the Governor visited the multi-disciplinary sports complex in Khanikar and assessed its available infrastructure. The Governor also visited the DHSK college in Dibrugarh where the Principal Dr. SK Saikia presented the overall history, course curriculum and other aspects of the college. As the sports university campus was yet to be constructed properly therefore the DHSK college offered its infrastructural facilities to be utilized by the students of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports varsity. Later on, the Governor also paid his visit to the Namphakey Buddhist Monastery in Naharkatiya. The Governor expressed a deep sense of contentment upon reaching the monastery. The Governor said that as a renowned spiritual site, the monastery holds great value not only for the local community but also for visitors seeking spiritual solace and cultural enrichment. Recognizing the tourism potential of the Monastery, the Governor  said that he would provide all support to transform it into a landmark tourist spot. MLA Naharkatiya, Taranga Gogoi also accompanied the Governor during the visit. Kataria also expressed his satisfaction being in the monastery and acknowledged the serene ambiance and spiritual aura that enveloped the monastery. He commended the efforts of the devotees in preserving and nurturing this sacred place of worship.
