Governor visits Nalbari; takes stock of implementation of development schemes
Guwahati,Rongili Barta- Assam Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria visited Nalbari District and held a meeting with the District Commissioner, heads of the departments and took stock of developmental works and assessed the implementation of the Central and State government schemes in the district along with prevailing law and order in the district. Chairing a review meeting with all heads of the departments at the conference hall of the District Commissioner’s office today, the Governor took note of the status of implementation of government schemes. He took stock of the schemes and their efficacy towards health and hygiene, drinking water, cleanliness, elementary education, road and communication, agriculture among others. The Governor asked the District Commissioner and other concerned authorities to make optimum use of the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, PM Kisan Credit Card and other government welfare schemes for the benefit of the beneficiaries. The Governor also took stock of the works of P&RD, Jal Jeevan Mission and the PM flagship programmes. With regard to the social forestry department, the Governor pointed out that the resources of the department should be used to take pragmatic steps of increasing green coverage of the surroundings. The Governor said that the department should be increasingly engaged in creating economically viable trees. He also asked the concerned department authority to identify locations in the government offices, schools and colleges for plantation drives. Shri Kataria also asked all functionaries to resolutely follow PM’s call for optimum utilization of the welfare schemes of the Central and State government for seamless transformation of the country into Viksit Bharat. He also asked the district administration to generate large-scale awareness among the people about the government welfare schemes and how beneficiaries can avail them. The Governor expressed satisfaction at the fact that there has been steady progress in various indicators of the district as compared to his last visit to Nalbari.Shri Kataria also interacted with the beneficiaries of various schemes in the district. He enquired about the outcomes of the schemes and said that government schemes are for everyone and therefore, all categories of beneficiaries should avail of the schemes. The Governor also encouraged beneficiaries to share their positive experiences with others, enabling people from cross section of the society to take advantage of the government initiatives. He also interacted with the public representatives. District Commissioner, Nalbari Varnali Deka presented some of the best practices carried out in the district like organizing a mega community wedding, green wedding, drone training etc among others. The Governor interacted with the officials of the security agencies to have an overview of the law and order situation in the district. Later Governor Shri Kataria also visited Digamber Jain temple and offered his prayer.
