Governor takes stocks of the functioning of Administrative Reforms, Training, Pension, and Public Grievances Department
Guwahati,Rongili Barta- Assam Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria conducted a briefing session with key officials of Administrative Reforms, Training, Pension, and Public Grievances Department at Raj Bhavan. During the session, Commissioner and Secretary to the Department, Shantanu Gotmare, gave a comprehensive presentation covering various matters, including the creation, amalgamation, and re-organization of departments and subordinate offices, formulation of policies and programs for training and capacity building. The presentation also addressed topics such as training programs for IAS, ACS, and other State Government officers, capacity enhancement of government functionaries to enhance knowledge, skills, and attitude, as well as the administration of all legislations, rules, manuals, etc., related to Pension, General Provident Fund, and Group Insurance Scheme. Formulation of policies concerning pension and other retirement benefits of Government servants were also discussed. Governor Kataria emphasized that promotions within the service should be conducted as per norms and quality should also be emphasized for the same. He said that an approach like merit-cum-seniority across all government departments in the State should be promoted and practiced to positively impact the work culture. Moreover, the Governor stressed on the importance of periodic training for all in-service officials belonging to the IAS, ACS cadres and other government officers. He emphasized on inviting specialized trainers from various fields to enhance efficiency of government officials. The Governor also reiterated the need of expeditious disposal of pension services, for the benefits of the pensioners.
