‘Governor launches ‘BTR Community Vision Document’

Guwahati, Rongili Barta:  Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, unveiled the ‘BTR Community Vision Document’ at a function held at Pragjyotish ITA Centre, Machkhowa here. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that the vision document is not merely a developmental roadmap, but a testament to the success of the historic Bodo Peace Accord. “I believe this document will accelerate comprehensive and inclusive development in Bodoland,” he remarked.

          

The Governor on the occasion also paid tribute to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma and Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma, highlighting their enduring contributions. “Bodofa prioritized democratic methods for India’s unity and the constitutional rights of the Bodo people, while Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma united society through non-violence and spirituality,” the Governor noted. Reflecting on the aspirations of the Bodo community, Shri Acharya said, “The Bodo brothers and sisters dream of a bright future for their families and children. They draw inspiration from successful Bodo personalities who have paved the way before them. “I am proud that our Assam government stands firmly with the youth of BTR in their journey toward building a better future.”

Highlighting the significance of the Bodo Peace Accord, signed on in 2020, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Governor called it a historic step that ended decades of struggle and violence. “Today, the visible pace of development in Bodoland demonstrates that this accord has ushered in a new era of peace, stability, and prosperity for all communities in the region.” He also appreciated the reintegration of thousands of youth into the mainstream, acknowledging their vital contributions to the region’s growth while embracing their rights and responsibilities.

The Governor lauded the cultural diversity of Bodoland, and commended efforts to preserve their rich traditions, customs, and heritage. “The peaceful coexistence of all communities here reflects India’s timeless philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.

Shri Acharya expressed confidence in the potential of the vision document to act as a guiding path for progress in education, health, employment, environment, and cultural heritage preservation. “No society can progress without mutual trust, unity, and partnership. I urge everyone to come together and advance on this path of peace and development,” he added.
