Governor attends the Khelo India REC Eastern Open Talent Hunt Boxing Programme
Guwahati, March 3: Assam Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria attended the Khelo India REC Eastern Open Talent Hunt Boxing Programme (Elite, Youth, Junior and Sub Junior) held at Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan Indoor stadium in Guwahati this evening.
In his congratulatory address to all participants of the programme, the Governor said India is a reservoir of sporting talents and through scientific training, the talents can be transformed into real sporting assets of the nation. He emphasized the importance of the events like this which has the potential to unearth the talents and provide them with the necessary support to prepare them for major sporting events both national and international.
Moreover, the Governor highlighted the transformative role of sports in shaping an individual’s character and morale. He underscored how values such as honesty and integrity, can be developed along with sportsmanship through sports. Reflecting on India’s evolving performance on the international stage, the Governor acknowledged the commendable increase in the country’s medal tally in the international events. This improvement, he noted, is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the athletes. He credited platforms like Khelo India for catalyzing India’s journey towards sporting excellence.
Advocate General, Assam Debojit Saikia, General Secretary of Indian Boxing Association, Hemant Kumar Kalita, President of Assam Boxing Association Kamal Gyari along with a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
