Chief Minister’s Institutional Plantation Programme inaugurated in ASACS

Rongili Barta- Plantation of saplings under the Chief Minister’s Institutional Plantation Programme  was inaugurated at the office premises of Assam State AIDS Control Society (ASACS) on August 2, 2022. The plantation programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister for Health & FW, Assam Shri Keshab Mahanta in the presence of Principal Secretary to Govt of Assam, Health & FW Deptt, Shri Avinash Joshi, IAS, Project Director, ASACS, Pomi Baruah, ACS, Additional Secretary to the Govt of Assam, Health & FW, Shri Manas Nath, ACS, Joint Secretary to the Govt of Assam, Health & FW Deptt, JM Patgiri, ACS, and a host of other dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said, “It is really a great initiative taken by the Chief Minister. Actually, we should not have waited for CM’s initiative and such a plantation drive should have been taken long back by every institution. Under the context of global warming, tree plantation is the need of the hour.” The Minister planted a mango sapling, Principal Secretary, Health & FW planted a litchi sapling and Project Director ASACS planted a bokul sapling. The Minister also planted saplings at the office premises of DME Office. The CM’s Institutional Plantation Programme (July 17 to August 15, 2022) was an initiative taken by the Science, Technology and Climate Change Department and the Coordinating Agency is Assam Science, Technology and Environmental Council.
