Assam Governor visits 96 year old freedom fighter Phanidhar Gogoi to Present ‘Varishtha Nagrik Samman’
Guwahati,Rongili Barta: As part of the Governor Assam Varishtha Nagrik Samman initiative, Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya today personally visited the residence of 96 year old veteran educator and freedom fighter Phanidhar Gogoi at Konwarigaon, Dibrugarh, to honor his lifelong service to the nation.
During the visit, the Governor felicitated Gogoi with a traditional Assamese Gamosa, a cheque of ₹51,000, a seleng sador, a shawl, a dhoti, an umbrella, and a basket of fruit.
Commending his selfless contributions, Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya stated that the life of the nonagenarian who was a dedicated teacher and freedom fighter is an inspiring example of dedication, diligence and discipline. He said, “Honoring our senior citizens is a bow of respect to the values and struggles of a generation that built our nation. I pray for his healthy and long life.”
