Assam Governor felicitates medal-winning para athletes
Guwahati,Rongili Barta : Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya felicitated Assam’s medal-winning para athletes at Lok Bhavan today in recognition of their exceptional performances at national and international competitions held across different places. He commended their resilience, dedication and indomitable spirit, describing them as role models who have brought pride to Assam through their achievements.
The athletes honoured included Anishmita Konwar, Ababil Ali, Yesmina Khatun, Surja Saikia, Kutup Ali and Narzima Sulana.

During the interaction, the Governor appreciated Anishmita Konwar for winning gold medals at the Asian Youth Para Games 2025 in Dubai and the National Para Athletics Championships. He also congratulated Ababil Ali for securing a silver medal at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix Championships, Yesmina Khatun and Surja Saikia for winning gold medals at the National Para Swimming Championships 2026, and Kutup Ali for clinching the gold medal in the long jump event at the National Para Athletics Championships 2026.
The Governor said that the athletes’ achievements reflect the immense potential of Assam’s para sports community and expressed hope that their success would inspire more young people to pursue sports with determination and confidence. He also appreciated the efforts of the coaches and support staff in nurturing sporting talent and extended the athletes his best wishes for their future competitions.
The athletes were accompanied by General Secretary of Paralympic Association of Assam, Rajib Dey.
