Lok Bhavan Assam celebrates Telangana Statehood Day

Guwahati,Rongili Barta: As part of the nationwide initiative to celebrate the Statehood Days of various States and Union Territories, Lok Bhavan Assam commemorated the Statehood Day of Telangana at the Kanaklal Barua Auditorium, Assam State Museum here.

The celebration reflected the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and highlighted India’s enduring strength in unity amidst diversity. The programme brought together people from different walks of life to honour the rich cultural heritage, historical legacy, and remarkable developmental journey of Telangana.

Minister for Transformation and Development, Labour Welfare, and Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare, Shri Rameswar Teli, attended the function. Extending his greetings on the occasion, he said that Telangana Statehood Day is an occasion to acknowledge the sacrifices and collective efforts that culminated in the creation of Telangana on June 2, 2014.

He paid tribute to all those who contributed to the Statehood movement and highlighted Telangana’s rich cultural and historical legacy, including the glorious Kakatiya heritage, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ramappa Temple, the iconic Charminar, and the vibrant traditions of the Telugu language, literature, folk arts and festivals. He also noted Telangana’s impressive progress in sectors such as information technology, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and innovation, which have made the state one of the country’s leading growth centres.

Referring to the strong cultural and emotional bonds between Assam and Telangana, Shri Teli said that both States, while preserving their unique identities, are contributing significantly to the nation’s development.

Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam Cultural Affairs Department, Shri B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, speaking on the occasion, said that India’s diversity remains its greatest strength and the celebration of Statehood Days provides an excellent platform for fostering mutual understanding and national integration. He observed that programmes of this nature help strengthen cultural ties between different regions of the country and bring people closer.

Highlighting the deep people-to-people connections between the two states, Shri Chakravarthy noted that residents of Telangana living in Assam, as well as Assamese people residing in Telangana, are making valuable contributions to the growth and development of their respective states.

The programme also showcased captivating cultural performances highlighting the rich artistic traditions and folk heritage of Telangana. The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the Telugu community, government officials, students and citizens, making the occasion a vibrant expression of national unity and cultural harmony.
