Governor visits Lok Bhavan’s residential complex; calls for collective action for tree plantation and energy conservation
Guwahati, Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya today visited the residential complex of the Lok Bhavan comprising government quarters for the officers and staff as he asked the family members to actively participate in tree plantation and adopt energy conservation practices in their daily lives.
Inspired by the visionary call of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for sustainable development and environmental protection, Lok Bhavan, under the leadership of Governor Shri Acharya has undertaken a series of initiatives aimed at fuel and energy conservation, judicious use of resources and promotion of environmental awareness.

During his visit, the Governor interacted with the residents and emphasized that conservation of energy should become a natural and conscious part of everybody’s life. He urged everyone to contribute towards protecting the environment through plantation of trees, responsible consumption and sustainable practices at the household level.
The Governor said that collective participation is essential to build an environmentally responsible society and added that through united efforts Assam can emerge as a model state in the areas of energy conservation, ecological balance and sustainable development.

Moreover, the Governor also took stock of the facilities available in the residential complex and interacted with the occupants regarding their welfare and convenience.
Commissioner & Secretary to the Governor S.S. Meenakshi Sundaram, officials of PWD building also accompanied the Governor during the visit.
