Assam Governor attends the 24th Rajya Puraskar Award ceremony of Bharat Scouts and Guides

Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the 24th Rajya Puraskar Award Ceremony of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Assam chapter held at Bhogeswar Phukanani Indoor Stadium at Rudra Singha Sports Complex here today.

The Governor in his speech lauded the awardees for their commitment to the core values of service, character, and leadership. He also acknowledged the invaluable role played by parents, trainers, and officials in nurturing responsible and capable young citizens.

He commended the Bharat Scouts and Guides for their yeoman services rendered during the last 75 years particularly during natural disasters and emergencies, demonstrating exemplary commitment.

The Governor noted that the organisation with over 6.3 million members, including a significant number of young women, is among the largest youth organizations in the world and has been playing a vital role in nation-building. He also highlighted its contributions during natural disasters and its role in promoting national unity and leadership among youth.

Referring to the motto “Be Prepared,” the Governor urged the youth to equip themselves with essential life skills and face future challenges with confidence and determination. He emphasized the importance of youth participation in achieving the national goal of a Vikshit Bharat by 2047 and highlighted initiatives aimed at youth empowerment.

He also highlighted key government initiatives such as “Mera Yuva Bharat” and “Swami Vivekananda Assam Youth Empowerment Scheme,” aimed at empowering youth and channelling their energy towards nation-building. Encouraging the young participants, the Governor said that they are not only the future builders of the nation but also the torchbearers of its rich cultural heritage. He expressed confidence that they would utilize their talent and energy for the development of the country.

Worth mentioning that Rajya Puraskar Award for the year 2024 and 2025 was presented to 40 Members and Hon’ble Charge to 20 Adult leaders of the organisation.

Earlier Ravi Kota, Chief Secretary, Assam delivered the welcome address. Leena Dutta, State Commissioner for Adult Resources (Scouts) of Bharat Scouts and Guides also graced the function. A vibrant Sattriya Dance was rendered on this occasion.
