Governor offers tribute to Zubeen Garg
Guwahati, Rongili Barta : On the birth anniversary of cultural icon Zubeen Garg, Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya paid his heartfelt tributes to the legend at a programme held at Raj Bhavan today.

Paying his tributes, the Governor said that Zubeen Garg was a towering personality in the world of music and culture, and that his contribution to Assamese identity can never be forgotten. He noted, “Although Zubeen is no longer physically with us, his music continues to live in the hearts of millions.”
The Governor also said that Zubeen was someone who didn’t just create music but he also lived in it. His songs carried the essence of Assam’s folk traditions, deep emotions, and modern creativity. The Governor added, Paying tributes and remembering him on his birthday felt like celebrating a festival of art and love, because true artistes never leave us, they remain alive through their creations.

He urged everyone to honour Zubeen Garg’s memory by working together to build the Assam that the artiste dreamed of, an Assam grounded in humanity and compassion.
Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor S.S.Meenaksi Sundaram, along with other officers and staff also paid floral tributes. Prayers were offered for the eternal peace of Zubeen Garg’s soul.
