Raj Bhavan, Assam celebrates Goa statehood day
Guwahati, Rongili Barta: As part of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative and to honor the spirit of unity in diversity through the observance of statehood days of various States and Union Territories, Raj Bhavan, Assam, celebrated Goa Statehood Day at a function held at Raj Bhavan.
The event was celebrated to pay tributes to the rich cultural heritage and the enduring bond between Assam and Goa, highlighting the shared ethos of unity, natural abundance, and cultural vibrancy.
Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor S. S. Meenakshi Sundaram in his welcome address, underscored the significance of celebrating statehood days as a way to foster national integration and mutual respect among states. He also drew parallels between the natural beauty and resources of Assam and Goa, noting that their environmental and cultural wealth constitute a treasure-trove for the tourists far and wide.
He also said that the celebration reaffirmed Raj Bhavan Assam’s commitment to promoting inter-state harmony and recognizing the unique contributions of every region to the nation’s collective identity.
Principal of St. Xavier’s School, Pamohi Fr. Mildon D’Souza while delivering his address emphasized the deep sense of unity that defines life in Goa. He reflected on the cultural richness of the state and the values of togetherness that bind its people.
OSD Raj Bhavan Prof. Bechan Lal along with officers and staff of Raj Bhavan were present in the celebration.
