Guwahati, Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya today paid rich tributes to the courage, sacrifice and commitment of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) as per the initiative of the Lok Bhavan Assam under Namo Matribhoomi Suraksha avam Swavalamban sankalp saptah, describing its personnel as valiant sentinels of the nation who safeguard India’s frontiers in some of the most inhospitable terrains and extreme climatic conditions.

Speaking at a programme titled “Himalay Ki God Mein, Himalaya Ki Uchai Mei”, organised by the ITBP at the Don Bosco University campus in Sonapur, the Governor said that the Himveers, who stand vigilant amid freezing temperatures, thin air and formidable mountainous terrain, embody the indomitable spirit, discipline and patriotism that define the nation’s security forces. He observed that the country’s confidence in the security of its borders rests significantly on the courage, vigilance and professional commitment of personnel guarding its frontiers.
The Governor said that the Himalayas are not only India’s geographical frontier but also an enduring symbol of its civilisational heritage, cultural identity and national pride. He said that the sacrifices of the ITBP personnel reflect an extraordinary commitment to the Motherland, adding that their courage inspires the nation, their vigilance strengthens national security, and their dedication upholds the honour and sovereignty of India.

Referring to the ITBP’s motto, “Shaurya, Dridhata, Karmanishtha”, Shri Acharya said that valour, steadfastness and devotion to duty constitute the very foundation of the force’s distinguished service. He commended the ITBP for its invaluable contributions to disaster response, humanitarian assistance and the welfare of communities residing in remote Himalayan border regions, noting that its role extends well beyond guarding the nation’s frontiers.
Highlighting the importance of modern technology, professional excellence and indigenous capabilities in strengthening national security, the Governor underscored the relevance of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in building a robust, resilient and self-reliant defence and security ecosystem. He assured the ITBP personnel that the nation stands united in respect and gratitude for their service and sacrifices.

Referring to the strategic importance of Assam and the North-Eastern region, Shri Acharya observed that national security and regional development are mutually reinforcing pillars of nation-building. He said that the dedication of the country’s security forces remains integral to India’s march towards Viksit Bharat@2047—a vision of a developed, prosperous, secure and self-reliant nation.
Addressing the young officers and jawans, the Governor urged them to remain steadfast in their commitment to protecting the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country. He encouraged them to continue serving as role models for future generations through their discipline, courage, patriotism and unwavering devotion to duty. He also prayed to Maa Kamakhya for the safety, good health and well-being of the Himveers and their families.
