Tezpur University – Udayan Chetia

It’s being 2 months spend in Tezpur University. As a student of Tezpur University have had a variety of experiences. Join the University on 29th July, 2024 for the first time as a student of MA in Mass Communication and Journalism. After days passed during the Anti Ranging Week from August 12 to August 18, 2024, students of the department of Mass Communication and Journalism 1st Semester created posters on anti ragging and had also performed a street play within the University against ragging. This raise awareness amongst the people against ragging. Our PhD Scholars and Seniors guided us in various aspects of the play. After that we had voice recording of the street play on 6th of September in Akashvani Tezpur and broadcast on 18th September and had also recorded a self written poem and broadcast on the same day with some of my friends. As student of Tezpur University had also experienced on many other things such as jamming sessions, candle march, photography club, etc. Candle March held on 16th August, 2024, starting from 6:30 PM. Candle March was organised within the University campus to express our collective grief, solidarity and demand for justice for the victim of the recent Kolkata murder case.

Even though, apart from this we also had a variety of experiences in academic as HOD of Mass Communication and Journalism department made a group of 5 members of the students of 1st Semester and send us to various places such as Axomiya Club, Agnigarh, Poki, Baan Theatre Hall etc, to make report on it. Before it, we have a interaction session on 1st August, 2024 between faculty, staff and students and from that day onwards our classes were started. We had also many assignments and presentations to had to be submitted. Even we have a session of News Presentation on our department for the 1st Sem students on International, National, Regional, State or Local news. Even though we have attended workshop on “Resume Building : Strategies for Crafting an Impactful and Professional” on 30th August by Resource Person, Mr. Lengdon Rajkhowa, HR Manager, Marco Limited, NER. Even we have celebrated Teachers’ Day on 5th September and had a great day ahead. On the day of Teachers’ Day we had a huge programme of dance, singing, recitation etc; infront of the Teachers. Even our beloved seniors gave us the freshers where we enjoyed a lot along with birthday parties. Apart from this we also had an another street play held in 2 different location within Tezpur city. On this street play the number of members was between 15 to 20 from both 1st and 2nd Year students who were acted. This street play was on Rabbies Awareness by the MCJ students, Tezpur University. I was thankful to had a part of this play and at the last of the month of September, we have a Mid-Term exam in the University. We also had experienced of Tezpur University elections on the month of September. The nomination fill up of the candidates was held on 12th September, final list came out in terms of eligibility criteria on 13th September, from 15th September allowed for election campaign, on 18th September open debates was held amongst the candidates of Outdoor Game Sports Secretary, Literature Secretary, Vice President and General Secretary. On 19th September, open debates held between the candidates of Social Service Secretary, Cultural Secretary, Assistant General Secretary and President. The election campaign was allowed till 10 PM of 20 September and the votes polling done on 21 September. Even the officially results were declared in the mid-night of 22 September. Though as a student of Tezpur University, I had a great experiences in my life as it was one of my dream to be a part of this University.
