News on National Leprosy Eradication Programme(NLEP) on 23/02/2023
Rongili Barta – 23/02/2023 at Sonapur BPHC under the district of Kamrup(M) near Chandrapur, Barbhilla Village , the Health Deptt. and other health officials visited a family in the village where a Leprosy case was detected. The patient was detected with Gr-II disability and also Gr –II deformity, was already developing as early case detection was not done. Treatment was done accordingly and Multi Drugs Therapy (MDT) was given to the patient which is available in the government health institutions at free of cost. Therefore, in order to detect early cases awareness is necessary among the people. So, Govt. had organized SLAC fortnight activity programme from 30th Jan/2023 to 13th Feb/2023 as awareness campaigns. Also, in collaboration with the other department the SLAC activities will be observed all throughout the year in order to increase awareness about Leprosy and early case detection so that it can be eliminated from our country soon. Broad discussion regarding Leprosy and how to detect leprosy cases early was done by Dr. Chinta Ram Hazarika (State Leprosy Officer) , Dr. Nayan Kr Das( State Leprosy Consultant) & Dr. Runubala Das( Zonal Leprosy Officer) along with the ASHA workers and other health workers with the villagers as well as the family members. Also, Dr. Nibul Gogoi, SDM & HO of Sonapur BPHC and Mr. Kaushik Baruah, Block Program Manager (BPM) attended the patient and the family members and will take necessary steps and necessary investigation about the leprosy case. ASHA workers and field health workers already had begun Focussed leprosy Campaign(FLC) program for new case detection.
