Resource Centre for UN-NER Coordination Committee Meeting held

M Hashim Ali ,Dibrugarh, Rongili Barta-  A Resource Centre for UN NER (RCUN-NER) coordination committee meeting for Zone one was held at Assam Kaziranga University . The meeting was hosted by Assam Kaziranga University. By a press release informed Dr. Sashi Kanta Saikia, Coordinator of RCUN NER for Zone one and Principal DHS Kanoi College, Dibrugarh. Welcome speech delivered by Dr. Prashanta Kr. Mishra, Vice Chancellor of Assam Kaziranga University and Introductory speech given by Dr. Debanuj Khound, Faculty, Assam Kaziranga University. Key note speech delivered by Tanuj Goswami, Chief Coordinator for Zone-1. In the meeting, Dr. Sashi Kanta Saikia, Principal of D.H.S. Kanoi College, Dibrugarh was nominated as Coordinator of RCUN – NER for Zone 1. Briefing UNESCO Association, Guwahati, Resource Centre for UN-NER, Institute of UN Studies-NER by Dr. Aswini Sarma, Executive Director of RCUN-NER and Secretary General of UAG. The objective of the meeting was to take developmental works in the society through UN/ UNESCO activities and programs and to promote UN/UNESCO activities in the academic Institutions for the benefit of the students, faculties & staffs. The meeting has decided to introduce the Six months correspondence Diploma course on UNITED NATIONS AND INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING in the academic Institutions. In addition, to implement the Minor Research Project (MRP) in the academic Institutions, to execute the RCUN – Mission Knowledge Programme, to carry out the UN/ UNESCO activities such as holding of Seminars/ workshops in the field of education, science, culture, health, environment & Sustainable Development Goals, observation of International days such as World health day. World literacy day, World Environment day, UN day, World food day, human rights day etc. The meeting has decided to send more & more people from the academic Institutions to attend the UN Global Conferences in India and abroad. An MOU was signed between Assam Kaziranga University and Institute of UN Studies – New Delhi for introduction of Diploma course on UN and International Understanding during the coordination committee meeting. the meeting including Assam Kaziranga University and Assam Women University, D.H.S. Kanoi College, Cinnamara College, Naharkatiya College, Namrup College, Moran Junior College, Bir Raghab Moran Govt model College, SPP College, Dibrugarh Polytechnic, Tinsukia College was participated in the meeting. Dr. Ajanta Rajkonwar, Vice Chancellor of Assam Women University and other members offer suggestions for smooth implementation of UN Goals.
