National Voluntary Blood Donation Day
Rongili Barta- Along with the rest of country, National Voluntary Blood Donation Day will be observed at Assam Administrative Staff College, Jayanagar, Khanapara October 1, 2022. The state-level event has been organized by Assam State Blood Transfusion Council (ASBTC) and Assam State AIDS Control Society (ASACS) under the aegis of Health & Family Welfare Department, Govt of Assam. During the event, ‘Thalassemia Support Scheme’ for children with Thalassemia under the age group of 0 to 14 years of age will be launched. Under this scheme, apart from the other benefits received by the Thalassemia patients under various schemes, financial assistance amounting to Rs 10,000/- will be provided annually to the children upto 14 years of age who are registered with the Government health facilities. Another highlight of the event is felicitation of 10 best donor organizations who have conducted highest number of Voluntary Blood Donation camps and collected maximum units of blood in the year 2021-22

Principal Secretary to the Govt of Assam, Shri Avinash Joshi, IAS, will be the Guest of Honour. Various dignitaries from Health & Family Welfare Department will also grace the occasion.
