Mahiyasi Jaymati’s Death Anniversary Observed in Dibrugarh
M Hashim Ali , Dibrugarh , Rongili Barta- On 27th March,Mahiyasi Jaymati’s death anniversary was observed in a daylong programme by Dibrugarh Nagarik Mancha,Tai Education & Cultural Centre, Ahom Sabha(sadar & Regional). The programme started with floral tribute and lighting of lamp in front of the statue of Jaymati. A prayer in Tai language was also offered by the organisers. After lighting the lamp ,the president of.the Nagarik Mancha, Dr.Bharati Dutta, retired professor of kanoi college, in her brief speech explained the significance of the day. She said that jaymati extreme sacrifice for the welfare of the country will be remembered for the years to come. She’ll always remain as a source of inspiration for the people of Assam. The programme was anchored by the secretary of Nagarik Mancha, Durlabh Gogoi. The function was attended by the president of Tai Shiksha & Cultural Centre ,Hemkanta Dehingia,Shasanka Neog,President, All Assam Ahom Sabha and many other dignataries. In the evening.a cultural.programme was.organised at Tai Centre which was conducted by gandheswar Chamua, Rubi Handique Gogoi, Bhuban Gogoi, Annesha Phukan and Aparupa Barbara. Children from Tai Centre, Nritangana Kala Kendra etc. took part in the cultural programmes.
