Governor holds meeting with district administration of Bongaigaon

Guwahati,Rongili Barta- Assam Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria held a review meeting with the district administration of Bongaigaon to assess the progress of various Central and State government schemes in the district at DC’s conference hall in Bongaigaon.

As a part of his four day Lower Assam tour, Governor Shri Kataria on the third day met District Commissioner Nabadeep Pathak and senior officers of the district over a meeting where he reviewed the progress of implementation of the government schemes and assessed how these schemes championed the cause of welfare of the people of the district. During the meeting, the Governor stressed on AADHAR seeding which is many a times one of the important prerequisites for accessing to government schemes. He asked the administration to complete AADHAR seeding of the beneficiaries who have the AADHAR number generated in their name.

The Governor took note of the health care scenario, agriculture, education, fishery, social welfare etc of the district. Taking a look of the education department, the Governor reviewed the schemes and programme being implemented in education. He took stock of the primary, higher secondary and higher education status of the district.  Shedding lights on  Vidyanjali 2.0 initiative, the Governor asked the concerned functionaries to encourage school adoption by personalities and philanthropists in the district.  The Governor observed that such kind of benevolent work aims to address certain problems more easily and foster a sense of goodwill and community involvement in the society.

Governor Shri Kataria taking stock of the Fishery Department asked officials to put extra efforts into transforming the fishery sector to make the district self-sufficient in fish production which can also contribute to the state’s progress. The Governor expressed his happiness over several initiatives taken by the district administration to improve the quality of living of the people of the district. He said the construction of homes for landless people, development of waterlogged lands for agricultural use, and gender-sensitive health care delivery system, hygiene, and sanitation programs for rural women will set an example of the district for others. He is optimistic that these sustained efforts will significantly contribute to the overall welfare and prosperity of the district.
