Governor chairs meeting with Chancellor’s Nominees
Guwahati, Rongili Barta- Assam Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria chaired two crucial meetings today with the Chancellor’s nominees of Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU) and Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya at the conference hall in Raj Bhavan. The meetings delved into the affairs of authorities of the universities, including members of the Executive Council, Academic Council, and the Court.In his address to the nominees of the academic council of Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya, the Governor underscored the imperative need for heightened engagement of the members of the academic council to enhance the academic performance of the university. He asked them to actively contribute to the formulation of specific courses and programs that align with contemporary needs of society and adhere to the spirit of the National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020. Emphasizing the nominees’ role as representatives of the Chancellor, the Governor asked them to advocate for affirmative changes within the university. He stressed the importance of transparency in the academic and administrative processes. With regard to ASTU, the Governor articulated his vision for the university to function as a proper academic institution rather than merely an assembly of affiliated colleges. He asked all teachers to be well-versed in the initiatives and rules outlined in the NEP of 2020. Stressing the importance of ASTU as a specialized university, he called upon Chancellor’s nominees to actively contribute to the formulation of specialized courses, considering the changes taking place in the technological domain. Advisor to the Chancellor’s Secretariat Prof. Mihir K. Chaudhuri, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor S. S. Meenakshi Sundaram and other senior officers of the government were present at the meeting.
