Assam and Nagaland Governor condoles death of Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat
Guwahati, December : Assam and Nagaland Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi deeply condoled the sudden and tragic demise of Chief of Defense Staff, General Bipin Rawat, his wife and other armed forces officials on board in the tragic helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu today. In his condolence message, Prof. Mukhi termed, General Bipin Rawat a towering personality and a powerful voice who had played a crucial role for the country’s defence. As the chief of the country’s first Defence Staff, he played crucial role in making the defence administration more professional and incisive. “I join the nation in lamenting the unprecedented tragedy and extend my deepest condolences to all the bereaved families in this hour of grief. With General Rawat’s death, the country has lost an able son, a patriot who was out and out a true patriot”, the Governor added. He further said, “His death is an irreparable loss to the nation. His outstanding service to armed forces shall always be remembered with gratitude”. He also prayed to the almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul.
