ASACS, ASBTC celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

Rongili Barta- Along with the rest of the country, Assam State AIDS Control Society (ASACS) & Assam State Blood Transfusion Council (ASBTC) celebrated 76 th Independence Day on August 15, 2022 with all patriotic fervour and gaiety. The day began with the flag hoisting ceremony by Project Director ASACS & Director ASBTC Pomi Baruah, ACS , in presence of a host of officials from ASACS and health department. Speaking on the occasion after hoisting the tricolour at the premises of ASACS, Pomi Baruah said, “We are celebrating the completion of 75 years of India’s Independence as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and I feel honoured to be a part of this grand celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. This is a great occasion for us to continue our journey of progress with more vigour and dedication. Let us all make ourselves relevant to the society. Let us all work harder and move ahead to achieve our goals.” A cultural programme on Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav was also organized on the occasion. It may be mentioned that as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga programme, officials of ASACS & ASBTC and other stakeholders both at headquarters and periphery hoisted the tricolour at their respective offices and homes. Prior to the days before the run up to the Independence Day 2022, the national tri colour was also distributed by Project Director ASACS to the various officials of ASACS & ASBTC so that they can hoist same at their respective homes under Har Ghar Tiranga programme . In the run up to the 76 th Independence Day celebration, voluntary blood donation camps were organized successfully in different districts across the state. In Kamrup (M) district and in greater Guwahati areas a total of 771 units of blood were collected since August 5, 2022 out of which a significant contribution is from the armed forces. SSB Howly and SSB Sonapur donated 150 units of blood.
