Governor attends statehood day celebrations of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram
Guwahati,RB News: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the Statehood Day celebrations of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram at a function held at the GMCH Auditorium here.

Extending his greetings on the occasion, the Governor said that 20 February 1987 is inscribed in golden letters in India’s federal history, marking the day when both Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram attained full statehood and embarked on a new journey of democratic empowerment, development, and self-respect.
Highlighting the unique identity of Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor described it as the “Land of the Rising Sun,” symbolizing hope, energy, and new beginnings. He noted that the state’s snow-clad mountains, vibrant tribal heritage, and rich cultural diversity stand as a living example of India’s unity in diversity. He also underscored its strategic importance and lauded the courage and patriotism of its people.

Speaking about Mizoram, known as the “Land of Hills,” the Governor appreciated its harmonious society, rich literary, musical and dance traditions, and remarkable balance between tradition and modernity. He commended the state’s achievements in education, sports, and environmental conservation, stating that the youth of Mizoram have brought pride to the nation at various national and international platforms.

Paying homage to freedom fighters such as Moje Riba and Matmur Jamoh of Arunachal Pradesh, and Pasaltha Khuangchera and Ropuiliani of Mizoram, the Governor said their sacrifices strengthened the spirit of national unity and freedom.
The Governor further stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the development of the Northeast referred to as “Ashtalakshmi” has gained unprecedented momentum, with significant expansion in road, rail, air, and digital connectivity. He observed that the region is emerging as a hub of opportunity and innovation, serving as a strategic bridge to Southeast Asia.

Calling upon citizens to preserve their rich cultural heritage while contributing to the vision of a modern, self-reliant, and developed India, the Governor conveyed his best wishes for the continued peace, progress, and prosperity of Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, and the entire Northeast.

Brahma, Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Nandita Garlosa, Special Director General of Police, Assam, Hiren Nath, Inspector General of Police Akhilesh Kumar Singh, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor S.S. Meenakshi Sundaram, Principal Financial Adviser, Northeast Frontier Railway, David Lalmalsawma, Executive Director of NEDFi, Lemli Loyee, along with other dignitaries.
